Eduard Ene earned his MS from the Department of Environmental Conservation at the University of Massachusetts in 2005, where he studied Spatial Data Analysis and worked as a software architect for the Landscape Ecology Lab. In this capacity he worked to implement Fragstats 3.x series, CAPS, AquaLand and RMLands. He studied GIS and remote sensing in the Resource Mapping Lab at UMass between 1995-1996 and has worked as a GIS Analyst for the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority in Romania until the end of the 20th century. He also holds an engineering degree from the University of Galati, Romania where he developed a life-long passion for programming. His interests include Geographical Information Systems and developing tools and algorithms for spatial data modeling and analysis using any language, library or framework that suits the task. His favorite languages are C, C++, C#, VB.NET, Ruby, Python, Java and he enjoys most doing object-oriented programming.

Eduard is currently an independent consultant and works as a contract programmer on a wide variety of projects in the Landscape Ecology Lab; however, he is involved principally in four major projects: DSL, CAPS, FRAGSTATS, and RMLands, and he is the principal programmer for FRAGSTATS and RMLands.
