Costs and Scholarships

Tuition

Tuition of $2000 includes all Institute activities (workshops, craft sessions, studio courses, field trips, etc.), air-conditioned housing in a shared suite, and three daily meals. Once your application is accepted, enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. A $200 nonrefundable tuition deposit guarantees your space. Payment plans are available for remaining tuition, which is due in full by May 1. Academic credit is available; read more on our Curriculum page. Please see Policies and Forms for cancellation and refund policies.

Scholarships

To support a full creative life for all, Juniper offers scholarship funds for individuals who have experienced socioeconomic disadvantages or discrimination, and/or who are citizens of underrepresented populations. It is our hope that this practice helps to cultivate a just, inclusive, and equitable literary community. Any details you choose to share in your application will help us discern funding distribution.

To apply for a scholarship, check the appropriate box(es) on your Institute application and upload a Scholarship Essay with your other application materials. For full details and scholarship application deadlines, see How to Apply.

Additional Funding

Many high schools and organizations provide financial support to students who want to attend summer programs; we suggest you check with your guidance counselor or a teacher to find out whether your school or a local organization might be able to provide such support.

Children of UMass Students, Alumni, Faculty, or Staff

These UMass affiliates receive a special $200 scholarship. Please indicate your affiliation on your application to the Institute.
