Sara Afzal, a Journalism senior, and Samantha Denette, a junior, have won the Kappa Tau Alpha 100th birthday photo/video contest.
Both Sara, a 2010 KTA initiate, and Samantha won $100 for their photo depictions of scholarship. Both took Introduction to Digital Photojournalism with Dennis Vandal.
The contest marked the centennial of KTA, the national journalism/mass communication honor society. The UMass chapter honors the top 10% of each year’s graduating class. This year’s initiates were announced on March 10, the day of KTA’s founding in 1910.
