Requirements to Earn the Certificate of Journalism

 

To earn the Certificate of Journalism, students must take a minimum of 16 credits in five courses.

There are two sets of Certificate requirements, depending on when you took your first online Journalism course.

If you took your first Certificate course before Summer 2016, here are the specific courses you need to take to complete the Certificate:

  • Journalism 300: Newswriting and Reporting.
  • EITHER Journ 201: Introduction to Journalism OR Journ 460: Journalism Ethics.
  • Three other journalism courses. These are electives you can choose.

If you took your first Certificate course during or after Summer 2016, here are the specific courses you need to take to complete the Certificate:

  • Journalism 300: Newswriting and Reporting.
  • EITHER Journ 201: Introduction to Journalism OR Journ 250: News Literacy.
  • EITHER Journ 460: Journalism Ethics OR Journ 445: Journalism and Law.
  • Two other journalism courses. These are electives you can choose.

The Certificate courses can be taken in any order.

After you have received the grade for your last Certificate class, please contact Razvan Sibii to certify your transcript.
