Barbara "Lee" Wicks
writing for public relations
Lee Wicks is a graduate of the University Without Walls at UMass with a concentration in journalism and anthropology. After working for The Daily Hampshire Gazette and the Amherst Bulletin, along with some free-lance work for the Boston Globe, she became the Director of Public Relations at Hampshire College using her journalism skills to "report on all aspects of campus life."
She went on to become the Director of Communications at The Williston Northampton School, and Secretary of the Academy at Deerfield Academy. She has written essays for Salon.com, published a novel, Some Measure of Happiness, and created a small press that fosters collaborations between writers and non-profit organizations. She loves to nurture writers and teach students how the skills of journalism can be applied to a career in public relations.
