B.J. Roche is a journalist and communication consultant who lives in western Massachusetts. For 20 years she served as a Western Massachusetts correspondent for The Boston Globe, covering breaking news and features, and writing more than two dozen pieces for the Boston Sunday Globe Magazine. For six years, she wrote the popular Peaks and Valleys column for The Boston Sunday Globe.

She is a columnist for CommonWealth magazine, and her publishing credits include Yankee, Gourmet, Budget Travel, the Washington Post, UMass Magazine, and other publications. She has also written extensively about New England travel, including chapters on Massachusetts for two travel guides: Hidden New England and the Berlitz Guide to New England.

She is a 1978 UMass graduate of UMass-Amherst, and lives with her family in a small hilltown in Franklin County. A sampling of her wide-ranging work can be found on her website.
