Mike LaCrosse, class of 2010, is a general assignment reporter with WBZ-TV. LaCrosse joined WBZ-TV from WLNE-TV in Providence, Rhode Island where he was the weekday morning anchor. Prior to WLNE-TV, LaCrosse was a reporter at WGGB-TV in Springfield, Mass. A native of Waltham, MA, LaCrosse is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.

Kristen Laine author of recently published American Band, a book about an elite high school marching band (Gotham Books, August 2007), began work on the book while enrolled in an undergraduate creative nonfiction course taught by Journalism professor Maddy Blais. The book has received national attention, with reviews appearing in publications as diverse as Parade and Entertainment Weekly. She has also appeared on television and radio programs, including NPR Radio's "Talk of the Nation." Link to reviews of her book at the Wall Street Journal and the Chicago Tribune.
Dan Lamothe, class of 2004,  has been a national security writer with The Washington Post since 2014, and covered the U.S. military since 2008. He's credentialed to cover the Pentagon, and has reported from places ranging from the battlefields of Afghanistan to the ice floes of the Arctic Ocean. He previously worked for Foreign Policy magazine and the Military Times newspaper chain, where he specialized in covering the Marine Corps. He started his professional career as a newspaper reporter with The Republican of Springfield, Mass., and was managing editor of The Daily Collegian prior to graduating in 2004.

Katie Landers, class of 2003, worked for the Boston Celtics in sales and marketing for six years, including the 2008 championship season. She left for a second bachelor's degree in Nursing from UMass Boston, graduated in 2012 and currently works in obstetrical health.

Jeffrey R. Larnard, class of 2010, is an associate attorney at DRSG Law in Newton, Mass. He focuses his legal practice on residential real estate, representing buyers, sellers and lending institutions. He is married to fellow UMass Journalism alumna Sara Cody (class of 2010).

Nicole Leete Barrell, class of 2007, is a Associate Manager, ECommerce & Analytics at Boston Interiors. Previously she was the Web Content Manager for the City of Boston. She managed CityofBoston.gov, a job that included manning the editorial workflow, various web projects, e-marketing, and overall digital presence for the city. She also recieved a Master's in Publishing and Writing at Emerson College, concentrating in e-publishing.

Brooke Lindner, class of 2002, is the Sales Director-North America at Hinkler, a global, independent publisher based in Melbourne, Australia. "Sales and product development lead for North American market along with a key focus on product development and customization. On the product side, this involves generations across product categories based on customer feedback and various trends. On the sales side, this involves key account management along with new business development."

Leila Lotfi Gagon, class of 2002, went on to obtain a Masters Degree in Print & Multimedia Journalism from Emerson College in May 2007. She is currently the Associate Interactive Marketing Manager of Email for the American Automobile Association (AAA). In her current role at AAA corporate, she creates website content and manages the email marketing program for all of AAA’s product lines (e.g., Travel, Insurance, Automotive, and Membership just to name a few) for seven regional markets. Prior to joining AAA, Leila was a Web Editor for three years at Bowtie Incorporated (now I-5 Publishing), the world’s leading publisher of animal books and magazines (e.g. Cat Fancy, Dog Fancy, Horse Illustrated, and Pet Product News). During her time there, she was responsible for three B2B websites and was awarded with the Outstanding All-Around Editor of the Year award for her accomplishments. Leila is more than happy to talk with students about their career goals.

Avalon Lustick, class of 2017, works as a full-time digital reporter at NH1 in Concord, New Hampshire. She reports on everything from local news to everything interesting happening in New Hampshire. Lustick also produces, directs, and edits videos on varies topics about what people are talking about.
