The Journal for the History of Childhood and Youth welcomes submissions of original article length manuscripts devoted to the historical experiences of children and young people without geographic or chronological limitations. All articles selected as appropriate will be anonymously peer-reviewed by experts in the author’s field of study. The journal does not accept material that has been previously published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere.  In general, manuscripts should be written in English with American usage and spelling.  Please contact the editors if you would like to submit an article in a language other than English.

All manuscripts should be submitted through Scholar One. Please go to http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jhcy to submit an article. Articles submitted for publication should use endnotes and follow the guidelines contained in The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition and should not exceed 10,000 words in length. Author information, including an abstract that details the argument and significance of the essay, must be included on a separate page and all identifying information should be removed from the manuscript prior to submission. Manuscripts can not be returned.
