Israeli storyteller and actress Noa Baum seeks to build bridges of understanding and compassion between East and West, Arab and Jew, past and present.

A Land Twice Promised is a one-woman performance based on Noa’s dialogue with a Palestinian woman (whom she met at their children’s playground), offering a moving testimony of memories that illuminate the complex history and emotions surrounding Jerusalem for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

A Land Twice Promised

Born and raised in Jerusalem, Noa Baum studied theater at Tel Aviv University and acting with Uta Hagen at New York University, where she received an MA in Educational Theater. Since 1982, she has performed and led workshops in Israel and across the U.S., including The Kennedy Center, the Mayo Clinic for Humanities in Medicine, The Jewish Museum of NYC, Mariposa Storytelling Festival, the National Storytelling Festival, the Jewish Theological Seminary, as well as hundreds of schools, libraries and congregations.

Noa’s audio recording Far Away and Close to Home won a Parents’ Choice Recommended Award, and in 2004 she received a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award. A grant from the National Storytelling Network supported the creation of A Land Twice Promised.
