Description:
Media portray images of the future in a number of ways. Sometimes the representations tend to be utopian, sometimes dystopian, and often, the messages imply that a utopian or dystopian future is dependent upon the decisions main characters make. In this course, we’ll use images from film, tv, theater, radio, and literature to explore ideas of “memes” (the smallest units of the connotative image) that are present in so many media forms that they begin to influence consistent media themes.

Description:
This course exposes undergraduate students to core business processes and how
these processes are implemented with enterprise resource planning (ERP)
systems in organizational settings. The key business processes covered include
procurement (materials management), fulfillment (sales), and production
(manufacturing). The class meets in a computer lab, and provides hands-on experience with these business processes through SAP’s ERP solution. Using the system’s core modules and data warehouse, students will gain insight into online transaction processing (OLTP) and online analytical processing (OLAP). A detailed case study with supporting data and structured in-class exercises will
provide students with experiential learning and reinforce the conceptual content of the course. Students will also play an SAP ERP simulation game to better

Description:
This course provides an introduction to Business Intelligence, including the
processes, methodologies, infrastructure, and current practices used to transform
business data into useful information and support business decision-making.
Business Intelligence requires foundation knowledge in data storage and
retrieval, thus this course will review logical data models for both database
management systems and data warehouses. Students will learn to extract and
manipulate data from these systems and assess security-related issues. Data
mining, visualization, and statistical analysis along with reporting options such
as management dashboards and balanced scorecards will be covered.
Technologies utilized in the course include SAP Business Warehouse, SAP
Business Objects, Crystal Reports, and RapidMiner.
