Italian Studies, Deparment of Languages, Literatures and Cultures

The Thatcher House

The Thatcher House offers students the opportunity to live in a residence hall dedicated to learning a foreign language and exploring foreign cultures in six Language Programs. The Italian Language Program houses students on the third floor. The students meet for a two-hour conversation/culture course with the instructor one evening per week. Student teaching assistants meet with the group during the week to socialize in Italian by watching films, listening to music, preparing meals, or working on skits. The Italian Program also hosts receptions for native guest speakers and for the members of our Academic Unit. This program additionally helps our students prepare for study abroad by integrating the cultural experience of students returning from Italy.
