Backup Local Recordings and Uninstall Echo360 Personal Capture Software

If you used Echo360 Personal Capture software prior to Fall 2015, Echo360 recommends that you uninstall your existing copy of Personal Capture before installing the new version. If you want to keep any recordings you've made, you should manually copy files from the program folder to another place on your hard drive before uninstalling the software.

Macintosh OSX

  1. Copy any local captures you want to keep from Documents/Echo360/Personal Capture/recordings into a separate, temporary folder, or onto a thumb drive.
  2. Navigate to your Applications folder (Finder > Applications).
  3. Locate the Personal Capture application. Right click the Personal Capture icon and select Move to Trash or drag the Personal Capture icon into your Trash.

After you have completed installation of the new version of Personal Capture, move the saved captures (Step 1 above) back to the capture directory (Documents/Echo360/Personal Capture/recordings).

Windows

  1. Copy any local captures you want to keep from C:\Users\Name*\ AppData\Local\Echo360\client\recordings into a separate, temporary folder, or onto a thumb drive.
    *Your Windows User account name.
  2. Open the Start menu and select All Programs.
  3. Click the Echo360 folder.
  4. Select Uninstall Echo360 Personal Capture from the options.
  5. Follow the prompts, clicking OK to remove the program.

After you have completed installation of the new version of Personal Capture, move the saved captures (Step 1 above) back to the capture directory (C:\Users\Name*\ AppData\Local\Echo360\client\recordings).
