Microsoft Imagine Unavailable - Weds., 5/24

May 23, 2017

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. EST, members of the campus community will not be able to obtain Microsoft software through our Microsoft Imagine program while the vendor performs WebStore maintenance. The WebStore will be unavailable during this time. Please contact IT User Services at it@umass.edu or (413) 545-8324 if you experience issues accessing the WebStore outside the maintenance window. 

Security Alert! WannaCry Ransomware

There is a new, fairly serious ransomware attack spreading across the Internet known as "WannaCrypt" that exploits a known bug in Windows and actively tries to spread across the local network.

As of Monday morning, we have not seen any reports of it impacting UMass Amherst systems. There are three steps you should take that are recommended by most security sites:

AT&T Cellular Maintenance - Tue., 5/16, 1:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from approximately 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., AT&T will perform routine maintenance on the cellular network. Users may experience a weak or non-existent cellular signal for the duration of the work. If you have issues after the maintenance window, please contact AT&T Customer Service at 1-800-331-0500.

UPDATE: Wireless Issues Resolved - Mon., 5/8

UPDATE: The intermittent wireless connectivity issues reported last week have now been resolved. UMass Amherst IT network engineers are actively working to ensure the campus wireless networks remain available at this critical time during the semester. We will continue to monitor the eduroam and UMASS networks to quickly address issues if necessary.
