The Institute for Social Science Research offers graduate students several professional development opportunities related to both research and funding:
- In partnership with the UMass-Amherst Graduate School, ISSR holds hands-on sessions designed to help graduate students strengthen their applications to the University’s Dissertation Research Grant Program and to the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program.
- ISSR hosts free skills-building workshops throughout the academic year to introduce graduate students and faculty to specific software and/or research techniques. During the summer, students can register at a reduced rate for fee-based, in-depth sessions.
- Advanced graduate student consultants also offer free one-on-one assistance related to social science methods and statistical analysis, with support from the Graduate School.
