Places to Do Work
Need a break from your office or home office? Here are some places you can get some reading and writing done.
On campus:
Du Bois Library:
- Learning Commons, lower level: Computer workstations, tables, comfy chairs, access to printers, copiers, and scanners. Laptops available for checkout. Group study rooms available.
- Quiet study rooms, 2nd and 3rd floor: Semi-private desks with outlets, comfy chairs. 2nd floor has bathroom.
- Faculty Writing Place, 16th floor: For faculty only. You must get a key at the circulation desk for access to the room. Internet access, printer, boards, and other writing supplies. Run by the CTFD.
- Teaching Commons, 26th floor: For faculty use only; see website for details.
- Carrels: Faculty and graduate students can apply for a carrel for the year or for the summer. There are usually more applications than available carrels. Public carrels are located on the 7th and 10th floors.
ISSR
ISSR maintains a small lounge area and a drop-in computer lab in W37E Machmer.
Science & Engineering Library, Lederle Lowrise
- 1st floor: tables
- 2nd floor: tables and computer stations, group study rooms
Public areas in various campus buildings:
- Isenberg: The main lobby has lots of seating.
- Machmer: The Communication Department has a lounge in the east wing, 3rd floor.
- Newman Center: The center's cafe has wifi and lots of tables.
- Thompson: The lobby of the high-rise has several tables, wifi access, and a small cafe with seating.
- Student Union: The Cape Cod Lounge on the main floor has wifi and comfortable seating. Sometimes events are booked in here, but it is often open for all to use.
- Campus Center: Plenty of comfy seating in the newly renovated concourse, level 2.
Off campus:
