Description:

Most social scientists have their own tried and true approaches to researching scholarly background articles and publications. However, there are many new, useful search engines and shortcuts that can greatly improve our efficiency. This workshop is designed to introduce graduate students and faculty to such research services of the Library. Topics will include; searching for scholarly articles, borrowing material from other libraries, identifying highly-cited material and searching for dissertations by topic and methodology. An introduction to citation/bibliography management software will also be included.

Course Objectives:

•Develop efficient search skills that will save time
•Inform students of the world-wide resources available
•Introduce students to the array of expertise in the Library
