Research Seminar: CVs for All Seasons: Preparing Your CV for Personnel Actions and Beyond [1]
This workshop is aimed at faculty who are creating CVs for internal promotion and review.
All of us edit our CVs for different purposes, whether it’s a 2-page Biosketch for NSF, a long version for a job application, or a short bio for promoting a talk. All CVs share some important attributes: clarity, brevity, and readability. But these become even more important for personnel actions, where your CV is evaluated by colleagues from outside your field and for high stakes. In this workshop Elizabeth Chilton, Associate Dean for Research in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Laurel Smith-Doerr, Director, Institute for Social Science Research, will give some general tips for faculty CVs, with a focus on CVs for personnel actions at UMass and SBS in particular. They will also discuss CVs for other applications, such as NSF and other granting agencies. Attendance is restricted to SBS faculty since SBS College Personnel Committee issues are targeted in this seminar.
Who should come: SBS faculty of all ranks (CV issues discussed cover the 4.2, tenure, and full professor reviews), SBS departmental personnel committee chairs, and SBS department chairs.
RSVP required: If you wish to attend, please contact Karen Mason (mason@issr.umass.edu [2] or 5-5970) no later than April 21.
