# ISSR Methodology Workshop | Introduction to Exploratory Factor Analysis Using SPSS and Confirmatory Factor Analysis with SPSS Amos | Feb 27 [1]

## Event date/time:

**Instructor: **Qiong Chen

Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) can be used to group variables according to their shared and unique variances. It is useful in identifying dimensions of an index/scale, understanding the structure of a large set of variables, and reducing the variables to a more manageable size while retaining as much of the original information as possible. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), on the other hand, is theory-driven. CFA can be used to test hypotheses about a particular factor structure. In this workshop we will introduce how to perform EFA using SPSS and CFA using SPSS Amos.

**Learning objectives |** By the end of this workshop, participants will know:

- When to use EFA and CFA.
- How to run factor analysis in SPSS.
- How to interpret SPSS output.
