The mission of ISSR is to promote excellence in social science research. One of our goals is to strengthen existing social science infrastructure on campus in order to promote high-quality scholarship. ISSR supports the methods and training needs of faculty and their graduate students, provides information and support on grant opportunities, and facilitates social scientists’ interdisciplinary collaboration, including with natural scientists and engineers.
The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) is based in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. By taking guidance from our research faculty’s interests and supporting their efforts, the Institute draws its dynamic strengths and directions from the evolving enterprise of contemporary social research. ISSR was founded in 2012 and drew upon resources developed within the Department of Sociology through the Social and Demographic Research Institute (SADRI).
