Winning an NSF CAREER Award: An Interactive Workshop with NSF CAREER Program Officials and UMass CAREER Recipients

Planning on applying for an NSF CAREER Award this year? Have questions about how to develop a winning proposal? Join your colleagues for an interactive workshop on May 15th, from noon – 3:00pm in Life Sciences Laboratory N610.

Please register by May 11th.

In this deep dive into the CAREER program, we will hear from recent UMass CAREER recipients on the strategies they used to win their awards. Panelists received CAREER awards from the NSF Directorates for Biological Sciences, Computer & Information Science & Engineering, Engineering, and Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences. We will then participate in an interactive Q&A webinar with members of the NSF-wide CAREER Coordinating Committee.

This is a “flipped” curriculum workshop.  It will not cover the basics of the CAREER Program. In order to get the most benefit out of the faculty panel and Q&A webinar format, we recommend you prepare by reviewing the program goals and proposal requirements materials found on the CAREER website:

·        The CAREER program solicitation NSF 17-537

·        FAQs about the CAREER program

·        Slides from a CAREER program overview

You may also view a video of a live presentation about the CAREER program.

You may submit advance questions to NSF for inclusion in the webinar by emailing them to careerwebinarqs@nsf.gov by May 11.

Presented by the Office of Research Development. Please contact Mary K. Green at mkgreen@umass.edu or 545-8641 with questions.
