Congratulations to Dr. Elizabeith Evans (Health Promotion & Policy) on her appointment by Governor Baker to the Massachusetts Health Council. Dr. Evans serves as one of two Faculty Facilitators of the ISSR Scholars Program, together with Dr. Ryan Wells (Educational Policy, Research & Administration). Dr. Evans used her yearlong fellowship as an ISSR Scholar (2018-19) to develop a successful grant proposal for a $10 million Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network (JCOIN) research project examining a pilot opioid treatment program for jail detainees in seven Massachusetts counties. We honor her scholarship and service, and congratulate her on this latest recognition of her leadership.
The Graduate School at UMass Amherst is now accepting applications for a number of grants for graduate students pursuing dissertation research, including new supplemental funding for research travel with children and fir public engagement. Application deadlines for the different grant opportunities range from mid-October to late November. The Institute for Social Science Research is pleased to announce the 2021-2022 ISSR Scholars, who represent three colleges and seven departments across the University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus. Krista Harper, Acting Director of the Institute for Social Science Research, notes, “Social science uncovers the human dimensions of societal and global problems, and ISSR is thrilled to launch work with this cohort of innovative social scientists.”

CRF's student award program recognizes outstanding student research in the many fields that encompass family studies. They offer three categories of awards.
