Congratulations to Elizabeth Sharrow and co-author James Druckman on the publication of their new book, Equality Unfulfilled: How Title IX's Policy Design Undermines Change to College Sports (Cambridge University Press). This work offers a critical appraisal of the institutional dynamics and mixed legacies of Title IX - rooted in research on the experiences of those the policy has affected.

Libby is an Associate Professor of History and Political Science at UMass, a former ISSR Scholar, and the Director of Faculty Research at ISSR. Please join us in celebrating and learning from this important new work.

The Institute for Social Science Research is pleased to announce the selection of the 2023-24 ISSR Scholars. This year's cohort brings an especially strong focus to vital questions in public policy, democrat inclusion, and public opinion. These six faculty members were selected from a competitive field of applicants, based on the strength and complementarity of their proposals to develop important new research spanning cultural, economic, environmental and political domains.

Please join us in celebrating the election of Joya Misra to the Presidency of the American Sociological Association (ASA). Dr. Misra, Professor of Sociology and Public Policy and Director of the Institute for Social Science Research at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, will serve as ASA president-elect for one year before ascending to the organization’s leadership role in August 2023, as the organization's 115th President.
