The Institute for Social Science Research has an opening for an IT support person. This position entails maintaining lab computers and providing general support to the Institute, with the following requirements:
- Running software installation and maintenance, for example, installing, uploading, and upgrading software on ISSR computers, troubleshooting, and monitoring the renewal of the licenses to make sure that all software are up to date.
- Serving as ISSR IT/AV contact person, for example, providing technical support for ISSR workshops, seminars, and other presentations, meeting with presenters as requested to provide tutorial for system use and ensuring that all technical applications are running smoothly, acting as liaison between ISSR and UMass IT for hardware issues.
- Supporting ISSR staff computing needs, for example, providing advice and assisting with problems.
- Holding regular office hours for 2 hours per week, during business hours.
Total commitment of hours per week will be a maximum of 10, with some flexibility. A friendly, patient, and helpful demeanor with a genuine interest in assisting others, and excellent communication skills are required for all applicants.
This is an hourly position that will be paid $20/hr.
