Graduate Student Scholars | Grad School Dissertation Grants Programs Accepting Applications

Coins from currencies around the world, scattered on a table.

Applications are now open for the Spring 2020 cycle of the Graduate School Grant Programs!

The Graduate School will award more than $100,000 in 2019-20 to current UMass doctoral students to support dissertation research across all fields.

Three types of competitive awards are available:

  • Dissertation Research Grants
  • Fieldwork Grants
  • Predissertation Grants.

New for 2019-20! Supplements for Travel with Children

Applicants may submit a Supplement for Travel with Children request with their Predissertation, Fieldwork, or Research Grant application. Supplements of up to $500 are intended to cover expenses incurred by the grantee while traveling with children under the age of six during activities funded by a Graduate School Grant.

Detailed eligibility information and application instructions for each grant program are on the Graduate School’s Internal Funding website. The application process for all three programs has been updated—access the new online application system via the Internal Funding website.

The Graduate Student Grants Program is just one of the many resources to support graduate student scholars from the Graduate School's Office of Professional Development.
