Monday, October 22, 2018 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
E20 Machmer Hall | UMass Amherst

Instructor: Qiong Chen

REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Non-parametric tests are frequently used when the data doesn’t meet the assumptions of parametric tests. This can be the case when you have both a small sample size and non-normal data. In this workshop, we will introduce Kruskal Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed ranks test, and Spearman’s correlation, and practice to run these tests in SPSS. This workshop is designed for individuals who are familiar with SPSS interface and familiar with parametric tests such as ANOVA, t-tests, and Pearson’s correlation.

Learning objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will know:

  • When to use non-parametric tests including Kruskal Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed ranks test, and Spearman’s correlation.
  • How to run these non-parametric tests in SPSS.
  • How to interpret SPSS output.
