ILC N155 (Integrative Learning Center) or Online via Zoom

It's elementary! Join our supportive experts to learn the ins and outs of the IRB for researchers working with human subjects (aka, people).

This informal talk with Q&A will feature Professor Lynnette Sievert of the UMass Amherst Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Iris Jenkins, Associate Director, Human Research Protection Office.

Our speakers will break down what can feel like a daunting process into its essential ABCs. They will address strategies aimed at collaborating effectively with Human Subjects officers and ensuring that you can carry out the research that you wish to conduct. Lunch will be served, and there will be time for questions about the IRB protocol submission process and the specifics navigating ethical review for diverse research designs.

This session will be useful for both graduate students and faculty. Co-sponsored by the UMass Amherst Department of Anthropology and ISSR. Lunch will be provided for those joining us in person.

Lynnette Leidy Sievert is Professor of Anthropology and member of the Institutinal Review Board at UMass Amherst.

Iris Jenkins is Associate Director of the Human Research Protection Office at UMass Amherst.
