Laurel Smith-Doer hired as new ISSR Director!
We are delighted to report that, after bringing in five high-profile candidates for the institute’s directorship, we have selected Laurel Smith-Doerr to establish the Institute for Social Science Research as a first-class, nationally-recognized research institute. Smith-Doerr is a highly-cited sociologist whose funded research analyzes the social processes through which scientists collaborate with one another across disciplines. As a previous National Science Foundation program director and co-chair of the Ethics Education in Science and Engineering NSF program, she is in an excellent position to bring the institute into maturity. She will start her directorship in the fall of 2013.
