The Indian Students' Association (ISA) is a cultural
organization that tries to brings the
rich traditions of Indian culture to the Pioneer valley. It
boasts of nearly 400 graduate student members from the Indian
community at UMass, Amherst. Although we are primarily a graduate
organization, members of the undergraduate community at UMass and
the neighboring institutions have shown interest and participated
in ISA activities in the past and keenly continue to do so.
Moreover, the activities organized by us are open to the entire
campus, in an attempt to share Indian culture with everyone. ISA
renders various services to its members. At the start of the
academic year, ISA works with new graduate students, helping them
in finding appropriate accommodation and in adjusting to new
surroundings. It organizes celebration of national and cultural
events in India,
for the benefit of its members and others in the five-college
area. It works as a platform for discussion on a variety of
topics as desired by its members. It provides interaction between
its members at a social level, via various activities for
entertainment such as movies, get-togethers and parties.
