University of Warwick
OverviewThe University of Warwick is located on the edge of the city of Coventry just over an hour from London by train. The attractive towns and villages of surrounding Warwickshire --Shakespeare's country --provide a contrast to the modern city of Coventry. The University, established in the 1960's, is located on a modern 720-acre campus which has a full range of sporting, arts and student social facilities, including the largest Centre for the Performing Arts in the UK outside of London. The undergraduate student body numbers about 8,000, and the University is consistently rated in the top 10 in the UK. As at most British universities, academic life is based in the department. The UMA exchange is with Warwick's Politics and International Studies Department, which provides a full range of courses on both the theoretical and empirical sides of the field. Joint programs of study with Sociology, International Studies, Economics, History, Philosophy, and Modern Languages further enrich offerings available to a visiting student and permit students to attend some courses in other departments on a space-available basis. Exchange students at Warwick are guaranteed housing in halls of residence or flats on the University campus itself. Students can choose whether to cook for themselves or buy meals on a "pay-as-you-go" basis from the many campus eating places and restaurants. |
