The Counselors
Andrew GogginsLast Spring I studied at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Here at UMass I'm a senior majoring in investment finance. Studying abroad wasn't something I thought I'd ever do, but it was an amazing experience that everyone should try while they're at school. Come into the office, talk to us, explore your options, and get out of the country - you won't regret it.
Carly SchadI am a senior Sport Management major. I spent last semester attending the CAPA London Internship program. It was the most exciting semester yet! I had my internship with a semi professional soccer team. I was named Head of Commercial Affairs and conducted tasks dealing with marketing, sponsorship and event planning. My overall experience was really great and I would like to help and motivate other students to go abroad and have similar experiences!
Hong HoI am doing a double Major in Chinese Language and Literature and Hospitality and Tourism Management - Hotel Track with an Asian & Asian American Studies Certificate. I am doing a 5 year program at UMass Amherst. I studied for an academic year in Hong Kong at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. While I was in Hong Kong, I took the opportunity to travel to many Asian countries: Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, and several places in China.
Jackie FormanI spent a semester studying in Ghana with the School for International Training (SIT). I am studying History, International Relations, and African Studies and I love to talk about Africa! I have also been to South Africa, Israel, and parts of Europe, and want to continue traveling for the rest of my life.
Lauren MurphyI'm working on a double degree with English and History, and getting a certificate in medieval studies. On campus I am involved with the Everywoman's Center, and the UMass fencing team. I spent the 06/07 academic year studying at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England. While there I studied British literature and history. It was the best year of my academic career! While abroad I traveled throughout the UK, as well as backpacked Europe.
Sarah SyedI spent an incredible semester abroad last Spring in Egypt at the American University in Cairo. Combining my interest in English literature and Political Science with my love for traveling was the smartest decision I have made at UMass. I got to learn Arabic and travel all around Egypt, from the breath-taking Red Sea coast all the way down to the ancient ruins and temples of Luxor. Two years earlier, during my sophomore year, I attended the Oxford Summer Seminar and had the best summer studying in England's most renown and beautiful Trinity College. I urge everyone to come and visit IPO and start planning your best semester (or year) abroad!
Sophia BruneauI am a senior Journalism major, minoring in Political Science and Sociology. I studied as well as done two consecutive summer internships at ELLE Magazine in Paris, France. I've had the opportunity to travel to various countries such as Portugal, Switzerland, Hungary, and England. Feel free to come chat in French or talk about Europe!
