How to Obtain Your Visa Document

The International Programs Office (IPO) sponsors visas for students who have been admitted to the University.

Please remember: IPO is a separate office from both the Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions Offices. IPO cannot provide visa sponsorship for any part-time and/or online programs offered at the University.

How to request visa document/s…

…FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS

Confirm your intention to enroll to the Graduate Admissions Office on SPIRE:

  1. Log onto your SPIRE account (you will receive your SPIRE login information directly from OIT within a week or so of your official admission to the University)
  2. Click on the 'Admissions' item in the menu on the left side of the screen
  3. Select the 'Student Center for New Graduate Students'.
  4. There is a confirmation status section that will allow you to inform the Graduate School of your enrollment plans.

Submit all required documents directly to International Programs:

  • Read the Certificate of Eligibility Request Form Info Page and complete the CERF.
  • Submit proof of sufficient funding. A Graduate Sponsor Statement should accompany the financial documents from each of your sponsor/s ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF FINANCIAL DOCUMENTATION include bank statements, letters of scholarship or loan awards specifying dollar amounts, letters from sponsors accompanied by bank statements proving their ability to offer support or any combination of the above.

…FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Confirm your intention to enroll directly to the Undergraduate Admission Office

  1. Verify your personal information on the Enrollment Form.  If any updates or corrections are needed, follow the instructions on the form to correct the information.
  2. Pay the non-refundable enrollment fee* by one of the following two ways: 
  • Electronic check or credit/debit card.  You may pay the enrollment fee by e-check or with a MasterCard, Discover, or American Express card on the university’s QuikPAY system.  You will need to enter your eight-digit SPIRE ID number, which is listed on your enrollment form.  Please indicate your housing plans on the QuikPAY site.  [NOTE:  While there is no convenience fee for e-check payments but there is a convenience fee for credit card payments.]

                                                Or

  • Send a personal check or money order. This method is generally slower as it can only be completed by regular mail.  Please write your eight-digit SPIRE ID (listed on the enrollment form) in the memo line of your check.  Indicate your housing plans by checking the appropriate box on your enrollment form.  Paperclip the check or money order to the Enrollment Form and mail it to Undergraduate Admissions in the envelope they provided. [Note: DO NOT send to IPO.]

*REMEMBER:  To ensure your space in the Fall 2014 class, the Enrollment Fee must be paid no later than the “Candidate’s Reply Date”.  You will be able to confirm receipt of your enrollment fee on your SPIRE Admitted Students page using your NetID and password (which were emailed to you from our Office of Information Technology (OIT) shortly after you applied).  The enrollment fee is non-refundable.  This means that once you pay this amount you cannot get it back for any reason.

Your I20 or DS2019 will be issued within 3-4 business days, once all required documents have been received.

An email with a scanned copy of your I20/DS2019 will be sent, once it has been mailed, along with other instructions.
