Trinity College, Dublin
OverviewFounded in 1591 by Queen Elizabeth I, Trinity College is one of the oldest universities in Europe. It is located in the heart of Dublin, opposite the former parliament buildings and within walking distance of museums, libraries, theaters, cinemas, shops and restaurants. The college buildings are set on 40 acres of gardens and open green spaces, and the oldest buildings date from the 1700's. Despite expansion in recent times and intense competition for admission, Trinity maintains its traditions of a rigorous intellectual atmosphere with close contact between staff and students. EligibilityApplicants should be of junior or senior standing and have a 3.5+ GPA. Only one or two UMA students will be selected for the exchange each year, however other students may attend as “extra” students for Trinity's direct enrollment price. CurriculumStudents may study at Trinity for the full academic year only on the UMass exchange, however, Trinity is beginning to allow direct enrollment for single semesters. You take all of your courses in the school or departments to which you are admitted, at most; to four schools or departments: Arts and Humanities, Social and Human Sciences, Engineering and Systems Science, and Science. You must show background in subjects you wish to study. Trinity does have some “broad curriculum” courses that are available to all students. HousingParticipants on the UMass exchange may be provided with university housing. Additional students are responsible for finding housing in the city of Dublin. |
