CIEE at Shanghai Normal

Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced Mandarin language courses available as well as some electives taught in English. Locations include: Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, and Taipei. Additional highlights include course taught by Resident Director in English, field trips led by staff. Language requirement depends on site.

CET (China Educational Travel)

Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced Mandarin language courses that focus on all of the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing. Additional highlights include practicum, Chinese roommates, locations in Beijing and Harbin, four-week January term. Language requirement depends on site.

Duke Study in China Program

Elementary Mandarin language courses as well as two social science courses taught in English. Locations include Beijing and Nanjing. Highlights include Chinese roommates in Nanjin. One-year intensive Mandarin required.

Friends World College

A unique program that focuses on experiential and integrative learning, offering courses on Chinese culture with field research components as well as intensive beginning Mandarin. Additional highlights include location in beautiful and ancient Hangzhou (3 hours South of Shanghai), 6 weeks intensive study in Southwest province of Yunnan during spring semester. Some Mandarin preparation recommended but not required.
