Overview

One of Canada's foremost universities, Carleton is located in Canada's capital city and offers 44 undergraduate and 32 graduate disciplines, and excellent faculty, a library and well-equipped labs, a beautiful campus, and outstanding recreational facilities. With nearly two miles of underground tunnels, Carleton is one of the most accessible of universities for disabled students, and permits students to go between buildings in the winter without braving the out-of-doors.
Carleton is only 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa and Parliament Hill. The ski hills and trails of the Gatinneau region can be reached in 30 minutes. The University's location affords access to such research institutions as the National Library and the Public Archives, to cultural institutions such as the National Arts Centre, three national museums, the National Gallery, and to a variety of sports facilities, restaurants, and theaters.

Curriculum

Carleton has more than 15,000 full and part-time students. Its faculties include the arts, sciences, social sciences, and engineering.

Of particular interest to UMA students are its School of Journalism and Department of Politics. Other fields offered are: Canadian studies, mass communications, Russian and East European studies, criminology and corrections, and music. Students take at least four courses each semester.

Housing

Housing is available in Carleton residence halls.
