Academic Year 2012/13

The 2012/13 University of Massachusetts Innovation Challenge final business plan competition awarded $55,250 to three competing teams. Fetch Rewards won the top prize of $30,000. VideoConversation won a total of $15,000 at the event while Crowd Solar received $10,000.  The top winner, Fetch Rewards is a mobile phone application that simplifies and streamlines the process of shopping. Fetch Rewards turns the mobile phone’s camera into a bar code scanner that automatically brings up coupons for items and speeds checkout.

The prior round Executive Summary & Elevator Pitch Competition, held in December of 2012 resulted in numerous prizes. Two teams received $2,500 awards -- Joe Nuts and VideoConversation.  While five other teams each received $1,000 prizes: Crowd Solar; GoDo; Green Latrine; InsideOut Solar; and Our Exchange.

The MinutePitch events- held in both the fall and spring semesters - resulted in the following prizes:   Fall 2012  winners were Green Latrine $1,000; VideoConversation $1,000; Above Average Business Solutions $500; Radius Apparel $250. Spring 2013 winners were Tadpole Technology $1,000; Rent-A-Camera $750; Banner Energy $500 and First Trax $250.
