Technology Innovation Challenge: Intent to Compete Form
Terms & Conditions:
Team Structure
- Innovation Teams must consist of at least one high-achieving
full-time UMass Amherst graduate student, undergraduate
senior, or recent alum (grad or undergrad) who graduated
from the University of Massachusetts Amherst after February
2004.

The organizers of the competition recommend each team consist
of 2 to 6 people.

The team must have at least one full time member of the UMass Amherst
faculty as an advisor.
Status of Technology/Concept

The technology/concept, or company must be from a company that began
operating after February 2004. Also, it may not be a subsidiary of
or receiving financial support from another company.
- Any technology/concept and/or team that has received
funding from angel investors or venture capitalists are
ineligible. Those that have received funding from friends
and family or won other business plan competitions are
eligible to compete.
Ownership of Concept/Technology
- All work, ideas, and/or concepts submitted must be
the original work of the team, exclusively.

The team leader does not need to be the owner of the idea, concept,
or technology, but the people who have ownership of it must be a team member
or advisor.

The technology/concept cannot be under:
- a verbal or written contractrual agreement
- a university, government, or company disclosure policy
- another restriction that prohibits competing in a business plan competition,
using the technology for personal use without informing others, or disclosing
the the technology/concept to others
Number of Entries

Participants and faculty advisors are restricted to participation
in a single team.
The intent to compete form will be used to confirm eligibility
of the team members, advisor(s) and technology. The proposal contents will
be confidential to faculty and staff administering the competition.
The Technology Innovation Challenge reserves the right
at anytime to disqualify any team for not meeting the terms and conditions.
Submissions
- The Executive Summary and Mini-Plan entries must be in Microsoft Word format.
- The maximum file size for each entry is 1MB.
- When you submit your document you will need your team name and the password you enter below.
- You should use the following naming convention when you create your document [teamname]-[teamleader]-[ES or MP].doc. Add ES for the Executive Summary submission and MP for the mini-plan submission. As an example, if I am submitting a mini-plan and my teamname is "Biotech" and my name is "John Doe", I would call the file "biotech-johndoe-MP.doc".
