Integrated Day Off-Campus Program
|
The Integrated Day Off-Campus Program (IDOC) is a degree granting
program through the School of Education at the University of Massachusetts. It is brokered
through the office of Continuing Education. The program has been designed to foster
inservice teachers' professional development. It is not a professional
licensure program. It is an inservice growth program. It satisfies the requirements for a
UMass School of Education Master's Degree or CAGS in Education.
- Enrollment in the program leads to a Master's of Education (M.Ed.) or a
Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS).
- Although deadlines are posted by the graduate school, and every attempt should be made
to meet these deadlines, admissions will be made on a rolling basis.
- Courses may include portfolio assessment, brain-based learning, teaching reading
according to the standards, issues in children's literature, maskmaking, book arts,
education through movement, teaching writing in the elementary school, mentoring,
integrating math and literature, cooperative learning, a variety of independent studies,
and issues in children's literature. Course offerings change from semester to semester.
- All Integrated Day Off-Campus courses are conveniently held off-campus at the South
Hadley Middle School, located at 100 Mosier Street, South Hadley.
- The cost of the Off-Campus Program is about half the on-campus cost because participants
do not pay fees beyond the registration fee.
Program participants are counseled by Dr. Masha K. Rudman via email, phone, and scheduled office visits. A
letter is sent to each participant before the beginning of each semester (including the
summer) detailing the course offerings and giving current information about tuition and
fees. These are subject to change from semester to semester. Regular informative messages
are sent by email. All students are placed on a distribution list via email.
