Cytoskeleton in mitosis and cytokinesis
During mitosis, cells assemble a mitotic spindle which functions to segregate the replicated genetic material into two daughter cells. Our goal is to understand how the mitotic spindle is assembled and functions to accurately segregate the chromosomes. A more complete understanding of mitosis is important so that we can treat diseases such as cancer, which is characterized by defects in cell division.
