Molecular Basis of Immunity
Our goal is to identify molecular interactions between mammal hosts and African trypanosomes that affect the development of protective immune responses. African trypanosomes are flagellated protozoa that cause fatal disease in people and domestic animals. We are particularly interested in mechanisms of dysregulation of lymphopoiesis and hematopoiesis by the parasites.
