NETWORK ASSISTANT

OFFICE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

 

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

The Office of Information Technologies/Network Systems and Services (NSS) seek to

fill one or more Network Assistant positions.  Primary duties would include support

of approximately 1,200 on-campus Ethernet switches and related equipment including

maintenance of related power, cooling, and other physical infrastructure. 

Additional duties will include shared responsibility for network trouble-ticket

handling, fiber-optic cable plant maintenance operations, support of campus-wide

wireless network deployments, server backup operations, network equipment

installations, and network equipment maintenance at both on- and off-campus sites. 

This is an entry-level networking position that provides multiple opportunities for

learning and advancement in a diverse and complex networking environment.

 

NSS has overall responsibility for the University of Massachusetts Amherst fiber-

optic-based campus network, connections to the Internet and Internet2, and for

providing a variety of critical and high-profile services to the campus community. 

NSS also supports the Five College network and is a founding member of the

Internet2 project.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent

    combination of education, experience, and training required. 

2.  One to two years full-time work experience in a computer related field

    required.  Must have strong background as a user of Windows, or Unix operating

    system.

3.  Required to have demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP network protocol concepts.

4.  Professional experience supporting computing systems, a working knowledge of

    network hardware, and user-level familiarity with Unix are preferred. 

5.  Professional experience configuring, installing, maintaining, and

    troubleshooting hardware and networks, a working knowledge of the TCP/IP

    network protocol, CISCO networking, and Unix system administration experience

    is strongly preferred. 

6.  Demonstrated written and verbal communication abilities are essential as well

    as a commitment to accuracy in work and documentation. 

7.  Must be able to do occasional lifting of 60 lbs.

8.  Valid Massachusetts drivers’ license required. 

9.  Some off-hour/weekend work will be required to respond to critical network

    problems and modifications.  Personal pagers will be provided for On-call or

    off-hour contact consistent with departmental policies.

 

 

Hiring Salary Range: $34,800 – $43,600.  Normal Starting Salary: $34,800 - $39,200.

STAFF PSYCHOLOGIST

Counseling and Assessment Services

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

Seeking a full-time clinical/counseling psychologist to provide varied

psychological services to students and to serve as a resource to the university

community.

 

Duties include: Providing brief and longer term individual psychotherapy;

conducting learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder assessments and

writing comprehensive reports; developing, publicizing, and leading support groups;

consulting with faculty and staff; supervising doctoral and post-doctoral level

trainees when assigned; actively participating in all pertinent meetings including

the weekly clinical training meeting; designing and leading didactic training

presentations; maintaining agency’s website; and performing other tasks as

assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1  Doctorate in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited graduate

   Program.

 

2. 3-5 years of Psychotherapy/Counseling experience in college/university

   counseling center or mental health agency.  Must be licensed in Massachusetts;

   competency in ADD and Learning Disability assessment.

 

3. Clinical supervision experience and/or formal training in supervision.

 

 

Hiring Salary Range: $56,600 – $70,800.  Normal Starting Salary: $56,600 - $63,700.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

The Director Jazz in July is responsible for the administration of the annual Jazz

in July program.  S/he oversees program management of Jazz in July, including

budgeting, faculty contract negotiation, applicant processing and billing,

classroom and workshop scheduling, hospitality, and liaison with appropriate on and

off-campus departments and organizations.  This individual is also responsible for

marketing and development plans for Jazz in July, the Jazz in July website and

producing a summer concert series in conjunction with Jazz in July. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  Bachelor’s degree in arts management, art, or related field required and 3-5

    years experience in arts management.

 

2.  Demonstrated knowledge of grant writing, marketing and arts programming. 

 

3.  Experience in multicultural arts programming preferred.  Supervisory experience

    required along with excellent administrative, oral and writing skills.

 

4.  Frequent evening and weekend hours. 

 

Hiring Salary Range: $19,250 – $24,050.  Normal Starting Salary: $19,250 - $21,650.

This salary reflects a part-time, 50%.
