GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
New England Public Radio (WFCR and WNNZ) seeks an
experienced classical music
broadcaster to program and host WFCR's
long-running and successful daytime
classical programming, and to be the
"classical voice" on-air, in on-line media
and in the community. The
ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive knowledge
and well-honed sense of
judgment of classical music and radio programming, close
familiarity with classical music's
history and discography, keen awareness of
current trends in classical music,
eagerness to participate in the classical
community, and sharp focus on the
classical listener. He/she will have an
engaging and informative on-air
style, one which will carry through into the
classical blog and community outreach
activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's
degree with five years experience in announcing and
programming
music, preferably in public radio.
2.
Extensive knowledge of classical music, recordings and sources of music
programming.
3.
Excellent judgment in evaluating performances of classical music.
4.
Excellent communication skills with an appropriate "on-air"
voice and
conversational-style delivery.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $41,100

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Business
Development Specialist develops, manages, promotes, and implements
research projects, centers,
initiatives, and programs across the University of
Massachusetts
Amherst research enterprise, with a particular emphasis on
nanotechnology, natural sciences and
engineering, and technology innovation.
The
position and its duties are shared
between the UMass Innovation Institute and the
MassNanoTech Institute. The Business Development Specialist
manages proposal
development, recruits industry
collaborators and research sponsors, orchestrates
strategic marketing and outreach, and
develops and executes strategies and plans.
The position
provides a staff leadership role in formative programs and
initiatives while cooperating with and
assisting faculty researchers in their
leadership roles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a
science-related field, business administration, public
administration,
or related field plus seven years experience in
creating and
managing
programs involving research and development, technology deployment,
and/or
academic-industry partnerships OR Master’s degree in a
science-related
field,
business administration, public administration, or related field plus
five
years experience in creating and managing programs
involving research
and
development, technology deployment, and/or academic-industry
partnerships.
2.
Familiarity with university and government policies and procedures
regarding
research
and technology transfer.
3.
Demonstrated track record of successful project management preferably in
an
academic
or industrial research environment.
Evidence of successfully
developing
professional relationships with industry scientists and C-level
executives. Familiarity with university research and education
programs is
desired.
4.
Experience writing and/or coordinating proposals and reports. Demonstrated
knowledge
of research budgeting and experience formulating and managing
complex
budgets.
5.
Marketing and communications experience within academic or industry
research
enterprises. Must have the presence, interpersonal
skills, and technical
vocabulary
to work confidently and effectively with campus faculty, staff,
university
administrators, government, industrial representatives, and
students.
6.
Strong writing and communication skills. Particular emphasis on ability to
effectively
translate technical or scholarly information into accessible and
persuasive
language and presentations.
7.
Ability to be a persuasive team player and an excellent facilitator and
collaborator.
8.
Ability to simultaneously work across multiple projects, dealing with
varied
technical
areas, and to adapt to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
where
priorities change in response to external needs and opportunities.
9.
Experience with office computer applications and web development tools.
10. Evening or weekend work, as well as
travel, are necessary in this position as
dictated
in response to external funding opportunities.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $55,000

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The at the University of
Labor/Management Workplace Education Program at the
Massachusetts Amherst is
seeking a creative and experienced professional to
launch and manage an innovative
pre-apprenticeship training program,
CommunityWorks, targeted to marginalized
and underserved communities in
Springfield and Holyoke. CommunityWorks is a broad coalition of employer, labor,
education,
workforce, and community-based organizations. The Project Director
position is grant-funded, at least
50% time with benefits
The Pre-Apprenticeship Project Director will oversee
and coordinate the program
as a whole, working
collaboratively with multiple partners, sub-contractors,
program staff, project sites,
employers, unions, joint apprenticeship programs,
community-based cultural associations, and
the funding agency to insure smooth,
effective functioning of the program.
The Project Director will be engaged in and provide
oversight of the following
activities: partnership development,
participant outreach, participant
recruitment, provision of training
services, career coaching, budget tracking,
data management, and project
evaluation. To these ends, the
Project Director
will oversee a project staff,
the size of which may fluctuate with multiple
funding awards. The Project Director will report and
work closely with the
project Principal Investigator and
will be the key liaison to the project funder,
making sure that all narrative
reports are completed in a timely manner.
The
Project Director will also meet regularly with,
provide reports to, and solicit
feedback from the project’s
steering committee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s
degree (in education, management, labor studies, or related field)
and more than three years professional
experience in education, management,
labor studies, or adult education is required.
2. Demonstrated
knowledge of worker education, curriculum development, program
planning, evaluation methods and participatory
learning theory required.
Excellent writing, partnership, and communication skills required.
3. Work
experience in the construction trades preferred.
4. Teaching
experience with the construction trades preferred.
5. Advanced
knowledge of budget monitoring, evaluation systems, and grants
administration preferred.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $40,100
– $50,300; NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $40,100 - $45,200
This salary reflects full-time position/Continuation beyond
August 2015 is
contingent upon funding.
