GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Student and Alumni Programs, the

Associate Director of Alumni Career Services manages the strategic development

and execution of career services designed to assist UMass Amherst alumni with

going career development and career management opportunities.  The Associate

Director also partners with various university departments in developing career

education activities that promote mentoring and networking opportunities between

students and alumni.  In addition, the incumbent develops and implements

marketing strategies and associated collateral materials to promote membership

and participation in the Alumni Association through alumni career services.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in human resources, counseling or

    related field with 3-5 years experience in corporate/executive recruiting,

    career counseling or training and development.

2.  Demonstrated understanding or professional development and career management

    process, including familiarity with various job search strategies and

    assessment tools.

3.  Strong knowledge of current job market and employment trends and strong

    presentation skills and/or demonstrated training experience required.

4.  Proven success implanting and marketing career development services.

5.  Ability and willingness to work some evening and weekends, and travel

    periodically.

6.  Experience working within a higher education setting or membership based

    organization preferred.

7.  Experience with volunteer recruitment and cultivation preferred.

8.  Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with ability to deal

    effectively and sensitively with diverse populations.

 

A strong organizational aptitude and ability to manage several projects

simultaneously; astute management and administrative skills, and an ability to

foster a collaborative and cooperative team work environment.  The ideal

candidate will be results-oriented and demonstrate initiative, integrity, and a

sense of humor.

 

*NORMAL STARTING SALARY:  $38,500 - $48,100;  HIRING SALARY RANGE: $38,100 –

$43,300

Associate Registrar for Systems

Registrar’s Office

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

The Associate Registrar for Systems will oversee computing and information systems

for the Office of the Registrar.  Lead, project manage and execute best practices,

requirements gathering, analysis, design, and implementation of new computing

applications.  Manage existing software and hardware solutions including a LAN. 

Develop strategic plans for Registrar’s best practices, workflow, information

processing and communication systems.  Direct hardware and software acquisition for

the office.  Serve as manager of the staff in the Registrar’s Systems Support group.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  Bachelor’s degree plus five to seven years related administrative or

    computing experience, or Master’s degree plus three to five years related

    experience.

2.  Demonstrated experience as a programmer or analyst with an enterprise

    business application.

3.  Demonstrated experience with a broad range of computing environments and

    platforms especially PCs, mainframes, and client/server systems with client

    support, and with training and supervision.

4.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5.  Demonstrated knowledge of current PC hardware, application, operating

    systems, Windows, MS Office, network administration (preferably TCP/IP),

    Windows 2003 server administration, of project management techniques, of

    writing technical specification, of end-user reporting and analysis tools, of

    programming with database tools like MS Access, SQL, Delphi and Java, of end

    user reporting and analysis tools (PeopleSoft Query and/or Crystal Reports

    preferred) and of email server and client administration.

6.  Experience with PeopleSoft applications particularly the student information

    system, PeopleSoft Query, Crystal Reports, and TCP/IP, preferred.

7.  Duties involve occasional work on evenings and weekends.

 

 

Hiring Salary Range: $56,600 - $70,800; Normal Starting Salary: $56,600 –

$63,700.
