GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications
for an available
Chief Information Officer (CIO).The Chief
Information Officer (CIO) is a part of
the Campus Leadership Council
(CLC) whose members report directly to the
Chancellor. Working with other members of the CLC,
the CIO leads the development
and implementation of the
campus IT and electronic communication strategy
including academic (both classroom
and course delivery technologies), research,
and administrative
computing. This includes the goals
of state-of-the-art
systems for face-to-face, online
and blended learning; high performance computing
and big data analytics; first
rate administrative systems; and efficient and
effective electronic research
administration. The CIO
manages the Office of
Information Technologies (OIT) which implements the
campus strategy in
collaboration with a number of
distributed IT service operations in colleges,
schools and departments. The CIO also collaborates with the
Office of the
President for the University of Massachusetts system
on system-wide IT issues
such as network security, the
integration of campus High Performance Computing
with the new MGHPCC
infrastructure (www.mghpcc.org), UMass Online, and
administrative computing. The CIO develops
and represents the campus position on
IT issues on the state and national level.
QUALIFICATIONS:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
This individual, under direction of the Associate
Vice Chancellor for Facilities
& Campus Services and working closely with
various community constituents and
third party vendors, is
responsible for the planning, organization, direction,
budget, capital assets,
contractual obligations, and administration of
transportation for the UMA campus and for
the management of Parking Services.
This includes transit service for UMA, the Five
Colleges and eight surrounding
communities, fleet services, disabled
transportation, field trip service, meet
and greet ground
transportation, the campus administration of the Regional
Traveler Information Center, and the management and
administration of Parking
Services. Staff includes 6 direct
reports and 34 indirect reports, as well as an
average of 200 student employees.
Responsibilities include:

Overseeing
all personnel activities, including interviewing, selecting, and
evaluating directly and indirectly
supervised personnel; establishing and
maintaining Transportation Services
performance goals that are consistent with
the mission and objectives of
UMA; and ensuring that the Division’s
organizational structure provides
efficient and effective delivery of service.

Developing
and managing Transportation Services operating and capital budgets
and ensuring that the
department operates within allocated funding levels;
working closely with Pioneer Valley
Transit Authority [PVTA], the student
governments, towns receiving UMA

Services to assure adequate funding sources.

Providing
consultation and judgment on matters pertaining to the Divisions;
acts as the 2nd Step
Hearing Officer for all Division grievances.

Overseeing

Maintaining
85 transit vehicles and operating two transportation facilities
which provide maintenance and
repairs, parts inventory, and vehicle dispatch.

UMA’s
Fleet Program including vehicle acquisition and disposal, vehicle
inventory [FMIS], motor pool, driver
certification, and contracts for car
rentals, roadside assistance, and
vehicle maintenance.
·
Having
a direct role in UMA’s Emergency Management as a key member of the
Emergency
Operations Center team.
·
Administering
UMA’s Commuter Options Program and assuring compliance with
transportation-related environmental and
mitigation policies.
·
Participating
in numerous UMA and community Committees and Advisory Boards.
·
Designing,
recommending, and implementing planning for Transportation Services,
including route evaluation,
scheduling, dispatching, communications, and
customer service.
·
Maintaining
proficiency on transportation-related issues and serving as the
primary UMA transportation contact
to the campus and area including faculty and
staff, student organizations, the
Five Colleges, Town of Amherst, off-campus
organizations, PVTA, legislative bodies,

Transit.
·
Developing
and implementing campus systems to ensure UMA complies with federal

management, and air quality. Ensuring systems are in cooperation with

Managing
department’s health and safety including hazardous materials
management, air quality, and general
health and welfare; responsible for
meeting all federal and state drug
testing, ADA, and audit requirements as a
public transit provider.
·
Purchasing,
maintaining, and ensuring the security of Transportation Services’
data and physical assets.
·
Advising
senior campus administrators on comprehensive transit and
transportation issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business
Administration,
Transportation Planning, Management, Finance, Planning, or a related
field is required.
2. Specific
experience and qualifications for the Director, Transportation
Services role include a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively
responsible management experience
in transportation, including budget,
supervision, maintenance techniques, facilities
management, and personnel
administration within a campus or other large
and complex organization, with
demonstrated experience in the public

Division oversees between $100M and $200M in
construction each year. Staff

customer service and continuous
quality improvement. The Director provides
leadership to and manages a
professional, unionized staff of engineers, planners,
custodial, landscape, skilled trades,

personnel in the maintenance,
operations, design, and renovation of UMA’s nearly
6 million square feet of physical facilities
including outlying research
locations. Staff includes 8 direct reports and

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Office of Undergraduate
Advising (part of the Undergraduate Advising &
Learning Communities unit)
provides comprehensive advising for the University’s
undeclared and exploratory
students. This position will work
under the direction
of the Director of
Undergraduate Advising. He/she will work closely with other
advising personnel to ensure high quality
advising and academic services for all
students, with particular emphasis
on programmatic needs for first-year and at-
risk students. Teaches a one-credit seminar which
includes topics of adjustment
to college, student success,
and help with goal setting and the decision making
process related to choosing a
major. Provides support for
office-, unit- and
university-wide projects and initiatives
related to academic advising and student
retention. He/she will use computer-based
registration and academic records
technology, as well as a variety of
platforms for conveying information.
Responsive to the needs of a
large number of highly diverse students and works in
a high volume and fast-paced
work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree (preferably in an Arts &
Sciences field) with minimum two
years’
of academic advising & success experience in a higher education
setting.
2.
Master’s degree preferred, with a major in Arts & Sciences,
student
personnel,
higher education administration,
special education, or related
academic
field desirable
3.
Experience with and
willingness to support the needs of a large, culturally
diverse
undergraduate population
4.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
5.
Intermediate level of computer proficiency
6.
Skill in small group presentations (university-level teaching experience
preferred)
7.
Strong interpersonal skills

Hiring Salary

OF ATHLETICS
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Associate Athletic
Director for Academic Support
Services, is responsible for the supervision and
overseeing of the development
and implementation of programs
and services designed to meet the needs of
student-athletes diagnosed with specific
learning disabilities and/or considered
to be at risk
academically. Develop and
coordinate an organized effort to
enhance and nurture the
relationship between the student-athlete Academic Support
Services program and the
student-athletes, coaches and faculty.
Responsible for
adhering to the philosophies and
regulations of the Department, Conference,
University, and NCAA as they relate to
assigned duties in the Academic Support
Services area; in conjunction with the other
Assistant Directors, assumes
responsibility for directing the athletic
Academic Support Services program and
the full time professional staff
in the absence of the Associate Athletic
Director for Academic Support Services; responsible
to answer and support the
other full time athletic academic
counseling staff with questions and concerns as
related to their responsibilities;
oversee the implementation and coordination of
the Learning Disability and
Tutoring program; coordinate payroll aspects of the
Learning Disability and Tutoring program in
conjunction with the Associate
Athletic Director for Academic Support Services;
coordinate and implement
individualized academic support plans for
identified student-athletes; coordinate
the initial identification of
student-athletes who may benefit further from
diagnostic testing; coordinate and
collaborate with other staff in Academic
Support Services; work with student-athletes on
learning and studying strategies
designed to enhance academic
performance and graduation from the University;
serve as a resource to the
tutorial and Academic Support Services staff on
relevant learning strategy issues;
develop, supervise, and implement tutor and
educational mentoring training
programs; act as a resource for staff and coaches
in the areas of learning
development, disability identification and referral,
providing training in these areas as
needed; responsible for the academic
counseling of student-athletes as
assigned. This includes but is not
limited to
coordinating and supervising study hall
activities, tutoring activities, and
approval of course related books;
communicate with student-athletes, coaches, and
other applicable administrative
staff regarding assigned student-athletes’
academic records in regard to
matriculation, graduation and NCAA eligibility;
monitor and identify the means for
student-athletes to satisfy NCAA progress
toward degree completion
requirements, as well as specific program graduation
requirements including evaluating and
making recommendations on academic
suspension and dismissal petitions;
counsel and advise student-athletes in
establishing realistic and attainable
goals regarding course and major selection,
study skills, time management and
career choices; maintain confidential student
files and records documenting all
pertinent student-athlete academic and NCAA
eligibility information within the Department,
University, NCAA, and FERPA
regulations; utilize the SPIRE
registration and records system regularly to
monitor and update internal
academic records; meet with prospective student-
athletes during the academic portion
of the recruitment process to disseminate
information regarding the athletic
Academic Support Services program and general
university academic requirements;
provide referrals to the Office of Athletic
Health Enhancement and appropriate campus resources
for assistance as needed;
responsible for keeping abreast of
current trends and developments in the field
through publications, seminars, and
conferences; responsible for strict adherence
to NCAA, conference, and
University rules and regulations; performs other duties
as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Master’s degree in Sport Management, Education, Social Sciences,
or related
field required.
2. Two
years’ experience in special education/counseling, or a related field
within a college university environment preferred.
3.
Demonstrated experience as a learning specialist for student-athletes
preferred.
4.
Demonstrated proficiency administering academic support programming
preferred.
5
Experience in teaching learning strategies and developing academic
intervention
strategies to enhance learning for students with academic
challenges preferred.
6
Advanced oral and written communication skills.
7.
Working knowledge of computers and student database systems.
8. Demonstrated
ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse
educations, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
10. Ability to work evenings and weekends.
11. Ability to foster and maintain working
relationships with various athletic
and University constituencies.
Hiring Salary

$40,100 - $50,300. Normal
