GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

Physician with Urgent Care Skills needed to cover UHS Walk-In Clinic.  Full time,

52 week position in comprehensive health care program for students, faculty/staff

and families at UMASS Amherst.  Located in the Five-College area with many

cultural/recreational opportunities.  Weekday evenings during academic year, with

alternative day or evening hours during summers and academic intercessions. No

regularly scheduled on-call or weekend duties and no hospital responsibilities. 

Salary commensurate with skills and experience plus excellent benefit package.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  M.D. or D.O. degree, licensure for the practice of medicine in Massachusetts

    and three years of residency training and Board eligibility or certification

    in Family Practice or Internal Medicine.

 

2.  Qualified for a local hospital staffing privilege, either as a courtesy or

    active staff member.

 

3.  Registration as a controlled substance practitioner in Massachusetts and with

    the FDA.

 

4.  Insurable by the Massachusetts Medical Professional Insurance Association or

    equivalent is required.

ASSISTANT BUILDING OPERATIONS/FACILITY MANAGER

FOR CAMPUS RECREATION & SPORT CLUBS

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

The University of Massachusetts Amherst Department of Athletics is accepting

applications from qualified applicants for a Staff Assistant, Assistant Building

Operations/Facility Manager for Campus Recreation & Sport Clubs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Primary responsibility for assisting in the coordination of

Recreation Center functions, including routine and preventative building

maintenance, routine and preventative equipment maintenance, and the scheduling

of Recreation Center facilities.  Collaborate with Campus Recreation colleagues

to manage a comprehensive recreation program.  Assist in the daily operation and

direct the closing of the 120,000 square foot Recreation Center:  assume

responsibility for Recreation Center operations in the absence of the Director

and the Building Operations/Facility Manager; review the daily scheduling (in-

house and outside contractors) of work requests for routine maintenance and

repairs, coordinate trades specialists, authorize the requisition of materials,

and maintain accurate records; coordinate the security operations, specifically

closing operations for the Recreation Center; maintain an effective working

relationship with Campus departments (Campus Center Hotel, Center for Student

Development, Parking Office), annually review policies and procedures; work

cooperatively with Physical Plant personnel to establish a maintenance and repair

program for HVAC systems, security doors, and elevators; responsible for the

updating of the database for all recreation equipment and recommending equipment

purchases; ensure that all recreational and intramural activities are conducted

in a safe manner and take necessary steps to minimize risk; collaborate in the

development of the recreation calendar (sale dates, proration of fees, holiday

schedules, etc.); provide input to the development and implementation of

assessment and evaluation mechanisms; represent the department at regional and

national conferences; serve on departmental committees; coordinate student staff

scheduling for both Building Operations and Member Services; assume day to day

responsibility for monitoring departmental scheduling software; serve as

departmental backup for payroll processing; responsible for strict adherence to

NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations.  Support the strategic

objectives and goals of Campus Recreation:  collaborate with Campus Recreation

colleagues in the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of the recreation

staff.  Ensure that the recreation staff is integrated into their areas, that

responsibilities are balanced, that priorities are communicated clearly, that

career paths” are identified, and that an evaluation system is in place. 

Recognize and reward recreation staff members who perform well.  Deal promptly

and effectively with performance issues; ensure that the recreation staff is

trained and certified in first aid, CPR, and AED; provide input to the

development and implementation of a marketing plan designed to increase student

participation in recreation programs.  Assist in the design and promotion of

outreach activities, special events, and written materials; provide input to the

development of strategies to deal with inappropriate conduct in the Recreation

Center and provide for patron feedback on all aspects of the Campus Recreation

Program; responsible for strict adherence to NCAA, conference, and University

rules and regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education & training)

    required in operations, facility management, recreation, athletic

    administration or related field with two to three years of professional

    operations/facility management experience at the college or university level

    required at the time of hire.

2.  Demonstrated experience in student supervision and student development. 

3.  Proficient in business computer applications including web interface,

    proficiency in CSI Management Software or other comparable recreational

    management software preferred.

4.  Working knowledge of safety and risk management protocols.

5.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

6.  Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies and to collaborate

    effectively as a member of a goal-oriented team.

7.  Able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.

8.  Able to lift and move recreation equipment.

9.  Moderate to light movement is required for this position.

10. Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED or must be obtained within 45 days of

    appointment.

11. American Red Cross Instructor Certification preferred.

 

 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $36,500 – $45,700; NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $36,500 - $41,100

SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER

AUXILIARY ENTERPRISES

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

The UMass Division of Auxiliary Enterprises is seeking an individual to fill a

full- time Sustainability Manager position. This person is responsible

developing, coordinating and administering sustainability programs which

include long and short term programs to foster sustainability within Auxiliary

Enterprises.  Duties include developing, planning, coordinating and implementing

seminars, conferences, workshops, etc. related to food sustainability and

developing and overseeing of permaculture and herb gardens as well as

regenerative projects.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, education, or public

    administration, or related degree in architecture, engineering,

    management or science, with an environmental focus and with a minimum

    of four years of experience.

 

2.  Permaculture Design Course certification or the ability to gain certification

    within two (2) years.

 

3.  Experience in university or college, environmental, or a nonprofit

    organization.

 

4.  Leadership experience in environment initiatives, resources management, and

    teaching/presenting information.

 

5.  Knowledge of sustainability issues and best practices.

 

6.  Strong communication skills including writing and public speaking.

 

7.  Ability to work independently, to be a team leader, and to work as team

    member.

 

8.  Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, organizational and management

    skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

 

9.  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to learn other

    software as needed.
