GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Director of the UMass Amherst-Springfield
Partnership will serve as a liaison
for the University of
Massachusetts Amherst (UMA) in
Greater Springfield, and
the surrounding areas and urban
centers. The director will be
responsible for
increasing the presence of UMA in the
city and for expanding and realizing
opportunities for engagement and
collaboration between the city and the campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public
administration,
communications, political science, or related
field required; advanced degree
preferred.
2.
Proven record of managing a wide range of projects to successful
completion.
3. More
than five (5) years of experience working with leaders from the public,
private and civic sectors in an urban
municipality.
4.
Exceptional management and interpersonal abilities, along with proven
administrative,
written and verbal communication skills, required.
5. More than five (5) years of experience
working on issues of economic
development
in an urban economy.
6. Ability to effectively express the
university’s position on a variety of
issues.
7. Excellent persuasive skills.
8. Ability to exercise judgment and
leadership when discussing the campus to
external
constituencies.
9. Previous experience working with senior
level executives required.
10. Ability to exercise
sound judgment and work effectively under multiple
pressures
required.
11. Demonstrated ability to
work with multiple constituencies, both internal and
external
to an organization.
12. Candidates with a
demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of the Pioneer
Valley region and its
economic and political landscape preferred.
11. Preferred understanding
of the role that research universities play in a
regional
economy.
12. Higher Education
experience preferred.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $53,300
–$67,500; NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $53,300 - $60,400

WFCR, licensed to UMass Amherst, seeks a News Director
for a department with an
established record of excellence. If you have exceptional interpersonal

news director, reporter or program host, we have a

The News Director will lead a staff of five
reporters, providing management and
editorial oversight for the
department; report, host and produce news programs

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s
degree and 5 years relevant experience in journalism and
production, preferably in public radio.

and voice to public radio standards on
deadline.
4.
Familiarity with digital editing and broadcast content software.
5.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $48,800

CIVILIAN ADVOCATE/VICTIMS OF SEXUAL & DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
CENTER FOR WOMEN AND COMMUNITY
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The person in this position works under the general
supervision of the Director
of Counseling and Rape Crisis
Services, provides and evaluates culturally
competent police advocacy for
survivors of sexual and domestic violence at one
area police department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice,
Sociology, Women’s Studies or related
field
with at least one year post graduate experience or Associate’s Degree and
two
years’ experience.
2. Ability to work effectively with multiple
stakeholders including police,
courts
and social service agencies.
3. Ability to foster and maintain positive,
collaborative working relationships
with
police personnel while advocating effectively on behalf of survivors of
sexual
assault and relationship violence.
4. Advocacy
and Counseling experience in related field required; Domestic Violence
or
Rape Crisis Counselor certification preferred.
5. Experience facilitating workshops or
professional trainings on issues related
to sexual
assault and domestic violence and/or experience training police
personnel.
6. Familiarity with the criminal justice
system or legal system, especially
regarding
sexual assault and domestic violence cases.
7. Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse
community groups.
8. Excellent written and oral communication
skills.
9. Ability to work both independently and
collaboratively.
10 Proficiency in
Microsoft Office applications.
11 Ability to track and manage detailed
information.
12. Drivers’ License and access to a vehicle required.
13.
Bilingual (Spanish, Chinese, or Khmer/English) preferred.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $19,465
– $24,372; NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $19,465 - $21, 919

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Network Specialist assists with development,
implementation, maintenance and
operation of network services
provided to the University community.
These duties
include direct responsibility to
provide ongoing operation of building-level
network infrastructure as well as
implementation of configuration changes and
upgrades on core network
infrastructure elements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related major, or an
equivalent
combination of education, training, and experience
is required.
2. Two
(2) years’ of experience managing Unix, NT, or
Novell Server, or
professional experience with network
installation and configuration.
3. Must
have working knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols and physical layer
of Ethernet networks.
4.
Experience with modems, terminal servers, Ethernet hubs or switches is
preferred.
5. Some
off-hour/weekend work will be required to respond to critical network
problems and modifications. Personal pagers will be provided for
off-hour

NETWORK ASSISTANT
OFFICE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Primary duties would include support of
approximately 1,200 on-campus Ethernet
switches and related equipment including
maintenance of related power, cooling,
and other physical
infrastructure. Additional duties
will include shared
responsibility for network trouble-ticket
handling, fiber-optic cable plant
maintenance operations, support of
campus-wide wireless network deployments,
server backup operations, network
equipment installations, and network equipment
maintenance at both on-and off- campus
sites. This is an entry-level
networking
position that provides multiple
opportunities for learning and advancement in a
diverse and complex networking
environment.
NSS has overall responsibility for the University of
Massachusetts Amherst fiber-
optic-based campus network, connections
to the Internet and Internet2, and for
providing a variety of critical and
high-profile services to the campus
community. NSS also supports the Five College
network and is a founding member
of the Internet2 project.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent
combination of education, experience, and
training required.
2. Two
(2) years’ full-time work experience in a computer related field
required.
3. Must
have strong background as a user of Windows or Unix
operating system.
4.
Required to have demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP network protocol
concepts.
5.
Professional experience supporting computing systems, a working
knowledge of
network hardware, and user-level familiarity
with Unix are preferred.
6.
Professional experience configuring, installing, maintaining, and
troubleshooting hardware and networks, a
working knowledge of the TCP/IP
network protocol, CISCO networking and Unix
system administration experience
is strongly preferred.
7.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication abilities are essential as
well
as a commitment to accuracy in work and
documentation.
8. must be able to do occasional lifting of 60lbs.
9. Valid
Massachusetts driver’s license required.
10. Some off-hour/weekend work will be required to
respond to critical network
problems and modifications. Personal pagers will be provided for
