DIVISION OF FACILITIES PLANNING
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Division of Facilities Planning at the
University of Massachusetts is seeking
applicants for the full-time benefited
positions of Construction Engineer.
These
temporary, two-year, benefited
positions are responsible for the oversight,
inspection and coordination of the
activity of contractors engaged in a variety
of complex construction
projects involving new and existing structures to insure
compliance with plans, specifications,
applicable codes, an standards of
workmanship. Multiple positions
available with the possibility of extension.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Associate’s degree in engineering or a related field with a
minimum of seven
years’ experience in the construction
industry and/or a minimum of seven
years’ experience in heavy construction
as a trade supervisor in charge of
one or more of the major trade disciplines.
2.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and
specifications.
3.
Thorough working knowledge of the principles and practices in the
construction fields.
4. Demonstrated
knowledge of current applicable state and local building codes.
5.
Ability to relate cooperatively, firmly, and tactfully with contractors.
6.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
associates, designers, clients, code officials
and other building
construction professionals.
7.
Ability to make accurate mathematical and engineering calculations of
ordinary difficulty, as well as developing and
evaluating estimates of
construction costs.
8.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written
communication.
9.
Demonstrated capability in the use of basic computer programs for word
processing and spreadsheet development.
10. Capable of maintain neat, accurate records and
files.
11. Demonstrated ability to access any portion of a
construction/facility site.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $44,300
–$55,500; NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $44,300 - $49,900
(For exceptional candidates, consideration may be given for
salary offers up to
$61,000.

HOURLY POSITIONS
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Division of Facilities Planning at the
University of Massachusetts Amherst
is seeking applicants for the
full-time, non-benefited positions of Resident
Engineer. These positions have responsibility for
project specifics,
construction inspection and overseeing
activity of contractors engaged in medium
to large complex building
construction, and the modification and alteration of
existing structures. Ensures compliance with plans,
specifications, applicable
codes and standards of
workmanship. Initial appointments
are for one year, with
the possibility of
extensions. Multiple
positions available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ten
(10) or more years’ experience in heavy construction as a tradesperson in
charge of one or
more major trade disciplines, a trade supervisor or as a
Resident Engineer/Clerk
of the Works.
2. Ability to read and interpret complex

specifications.
3. Ability to effectively communicate
verbally and in written communication.

CAPITAL PROJECT MANAGER, LEVEL I
DIVISION OF FACILITIES AND CAMPUS PLANNING
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of
Campus Projects, this three-year
appointment, with possibility of
extension, is responsible for project management
for capital projects utilizing
both in-house resources and external consultants.
Multiple positions
available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Bachelor or first professional degree in architecture or engineering, or
Architectural Registration in the State of Massachusetts
prior to June 1989.
2. Registration
as an architect or professional engineer (civil, structural, or
mechanical) in Commonwealth of Massachusetts or
the ability to obtain
Massachusetts registration within one year.
3. More
than five (5) years’ experience managing complex design and
constructions projects.
4. Working
knowledge of architecture, engineering and design principles,
building systems, code regulations and
construction practices and the ability
to apply this knowledge to complex problems.
5. Ability
to effectively manage and coordinate the work of consultants,
contractors and others connected with this
work.
6. Demonstrated
excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Demonstrated
experience in word processing, spread sheet and data management
systems.
8. Demonstrated
ability to access any portion of a construction/facility site
including climbing ladders to assess conditions
and perform inspections of
existing facilities.
9. The
position requires the ability to work independently and allocate
resources consistent with Division goals. Maintains proficiency in word
processing, spread sheets and various computer
database systems used in
professional management organizations.
SALARY RANGE: Salary commensurate with qualifications.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the general direction of the Director of
Financial and Cost Analysis, this
position is responsible for
developing PeopleSoft Reporting applications for Cost
Analysis and other campus functions as needed.
Provides cost analyses for the
development of rates charged to users
of campus services and overhead charges.
Determines the proper allocation of costs and
revenues among campus activities to
assure consistency, accuracy and
appropriateness of expenditures and revenues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A
Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or Finance preferred). Master’s in
Business
Administration preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years related experience.
2. Strong
knowledge of Cost Accounting Principles and Procedures, and federal
OMB A-21 guidelines required.
3. Strong
knowledge and proficiency in PeopleSoft Finance and Human Resources
Systems.
4. Strong
Knowledge of fund accounting.
5. Demonstrated
competency with microcomputers and data retrieval.
6. Competency
in developing diverse web-based applications
7. Excellent
written and oral communication skills.
8. Ability
to work independently and with diverse constituencies.
9. Ability
to carry significant responsibility for development of campus
financial applications.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $48,800 – $61,200; NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $48,800 - $55,000

The Industry
Research Specialist provides efficient and professionally competent
business and
administrative supervision for the UMass Innovation Institute (UMII)
over the majority of
industry-sponsored research contracts and government-
sponsored applied
research grants. This position also
provides business
management leadership for
various UMII projects and programs developed to fulfill
its mission and
leads UMII’s business and administrative relationships, ensuring

QUALIFICATIONS:
