GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

Provide expertise in executing key human resources policies, procedures and best practices for the

Department of Residential Life. Areas of focus include but are not limited to staff orientation and

training; job performance appraisal; regulatory compliance with prevailing laws, codes and best

practices; collective bargaining agreements and related investigations and contract negotiations;

staff wellness program; maintaining related records and data bases; and preparing related

documentation and reports. Perform responsibilities under general direction from the Director of

Finance and Human Resources and meet periodically with RL senior leadership to apprise them of

related issues and data to inform decisions. Provide back-up support for Human Resources colleagues

as required to assure seamless, timely and proficient delivery of services to a large, diverse work

force.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field, and

    five (5) years of relevant work experience.

2.  Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to relate effectively with highly diverse

    staff.

3.  Superior oral and written communication skills.

4.  Well-developed ability to deliver individual and group presentations to individuals and groups

    utilizing multiple formats and techniques.

5.  Superior active listening skills.

6.  Proven ability to honor confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion.

7.  Proven ability to work independently, effectively managing routine work and assigned projects.

8.  Previous work experience developing and managing databases, and pulling related data for

    reporting purposes.

9.  Sophisticated skills in typical suited office software.

10. Superior ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.

11. Motivation as a team player and a commitment to see the Team succeed.

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

 

12. Previous work experience in a collective bargaining agreement environment.

13. Experience in mediation of inter-personal/intra-staff workplace disputes.

14. Ability to conduct work setting ergonomic reviews.

15. Active affiliation in related professional association

 

 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $44,300-$55,500 NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $44,300-$49,900

 DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND FINE ARTS

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

The College of Humanities and Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks a full-

time Director of Marketing and Communications.  The Director will develop and direct efforts to

publicize, promote, and advance the College of Humanities and Fine Arts and its strategic

objectives using the full range of available media.  The Director will work to advance the

College’s ideals and vision, its departments and programs, its events, and its initiative to

constituencies that include faculty members, administrators, donors, prospective students, current

students, alumni, legislators and others on and off campus.  The Director also works in close

cooperation with the Director of Development to promote and build support for the College.  The

Director will interact with media outlets on and off campus and may serve as a representative of

the College.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  BA/BS degree in the Humanities, Fine Arts, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or

    relevant field of study.

 

2.  More than 3 years of work experience in communications that should include the development and

    production of print and electronic media and the use of new and social media, as well as other

    emerging communications techniques and strategies.

 

3.  Excellent writing and editing skills.

 

4.  Excellent computer skills.

 

5.  Ability to work independently and to prioritize and complete multiple complex tasks with

    different timetables and deadlines.

 

6.  Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

 

7.  Ability to travel independently and availability to work some evenings and weekends.

 

 

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $44,300 –$55,500; NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $44,300 - $49,900
