Discounts are available to University employees through a number of different sources. The University does not endorse any specific program or benefit, rather this listing is provided for informational purposes. Please contact each individual vendor with questions.
Employees with health insurance coverage through the MA Group Insurance Commission may find that their plan offers a variety of discounts. Check the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' health plans for active state employees for more information on your plan.
In-Home Backup Childcare and Adult Care
Parents in a Pinch, part of Care.Com, helps connect employees with qualified, vetted caregivers when there is a gap in a family’s regular childcare or adult care routine. Caregivers are available day and night, seven days a week: for overtime needs, on weekends, during Monday holidays and vacations. Caregivers are also available when a child or adult is ill, or overnight during a business trip.

Home and Auto Insurance
Automobile and Homeowners/Renter’s Insurance is available to benefitted employees through MetLife. Premiums may be paid directly to MetLife or via payroll deduction.
Procurement – Personal Purchases
Employees are eligible to make personal purchases through some Procurement contracts, providing access to the University’s group buying power. See Procurement's Contract Pricing Extended to Faculty and Staff for more details.
MetLaw/Hyatt Legal Plan
The MetLaw/Hyatt Legal Plan provides you telephone and office consultations for an unlimited number of matters with an in-network attorney of your choosing. During the consultation, the attorney will review the law, discuss your rights and responsibilities, explore your options and recommend a course of action.
UMass employees may enroll in MetLaw/Hyatt Legal Plan coverage during annual open enrollment (typically the month of May) any year with coverage effective the following July 1 – June 30. Covered employees may pro-actively elect to terminate coverage during the month of May any year with coverage ending effective the end of June. The current MetLaw/Hyatt Legal Plan premium is $21.25/month and is paid via payroll deduction.

Apart from those listed above, many businesses offer discounts to governmental employees or those who work in education. Do not hesitate to ask your hotel, car rental company, computer software or hardware or provider if they offer such discounts.
