Workers Compensation

Workers' Compensation provides you paid leave and medical benefits if you sustain a work-related injury or illness.

I have been injured on the job. What do I do?
Report your injury to your immediate supervisor as soon as possible. You must Incident Report and report any medical attention you require to __________. The completed Incident Report is forwarded to the Office of Human Resources for processing with the University's insurance carrier.

How do I obtain medical care?
All reasonable and necessary medical expenses related to an approved workers' compensation claim will be paid by the Commonwealth's insurance carrier. These expenses may include doctor and hospital fees, prescription medications, etc.

How do I get paid?
You may use your own accrued sick, vacation, personal and comp. time to cover the first five (5) days of your absence.

While you are totally disabled, you will receive 60% of your average weekly gross salary up to a maximum amount as allowed by Massachusetts Workers' Compensation law. If you are capable of working, but only on a limited basis, a light duty work assignment may be available for a temporary period of time. Provide your supervisor with medical documentation of any work limitations you have so that he/she may evaluate if a short-term work accommodation may be made.
