Health Care Spending Account (HCSA)

The GIC offers a Health Care Spending Account. Through this benefit, you can pay for non-covered health care expenses on a pre-tax basis, reducing your federal and state income tax liability.

Expenses must be medically related. Examples include:

  • Physician office and prescription drug co-payments

  • Medical deductibles and coinsurance

  • Eyeglasses and contact lenses not covered by your health or vision plan

  • Orthodontia and dental benefits not covered by your dental plan

Eligibility
University employees may enroll in the HCSA during October any year
for the following calendar year or upon a qualified change in status. You must return a completed enrollment form to the Human Resources Employee Service Center each October if you wish to participate in the HCSA during the following calendar year.

Enrollment
Annual Enrollment for participation the following calendar year's is the month of November. You may also enroll in HCSA in the instance of certain qualifying events. See the HCSA brochure or contact Human Resources.
